Wheal Coates, the remains of mining machinery from the late 19th Century. These massive engine houses are liberally dotted all over the place in St Agnes and the surrounding area. They’re pretty spectacular. I love how something so functional can also be so grand and dramatic. Makes you wonder if they couldn’t do better with all those B&Q and Tesco superstores on the city outskirts…
